About
My name is Collin Cooper.
Born and raised in the South Bay. I graduated from Redondo Union High School in 2005. I took numerous art classes while I was in high school. I also served as an Student Assistant Athletic Trainer for the various sports that were played at RUHS. I played volleyball and soccer for RUHS while I was there. I played Division 1 college volleyball where I was fortunate enough to compete against schools like USC, Stanford, and Ohio State on a regular basis.
While in college I began exploring the different opportunities that I could possibly have for my future. I started taking graphics classes and actually enjoyed it so much I made it my minor! I started a clothing company while I was in school…generating custom tees for friends and family. I then moved into photography…exploring that realm was fantastic. I still do a ton of photography today.
I graduated from Quincy University in Illinois in 2009 with a Bachelor’s of Science Degree in Marketing with a Minor in Graphic Design, with the intent of getting into Advertising.
When I moved back from Illinois, I immediately landed a job as a graphic designer for a growing volleyball sportswear company in Torrance. While in the first months working there I worked under the Art Director. I created custom logos, mock-ups, screen printing and embroidery orders, etc…Eventually I took over the art director job. I served as the art director for around 3 years at this company. While working at this company I worked as a freelance designer to various organizations. I started my own design company that I do my freelance work through, Collin Cooper Deisgns. I have continued to do this even after I stopped working at this company.
I also coach volleyball to kids in the surrounding South Bay. I coach at a private club and also at a high school in Torrance.
I left the company in 2012 because I had a slight change of heart. I want to pursue my 1st passion which is making people better physically and emotionally, which I started in high school working with the Athletic Trainer. I am looking to go back to school and start over. My career change is leading me to go get my Doctorate of Physical Therapy. So I am at El Camino to take some of the prerequisite classes for that program because my undergrad classes are based on art and business and NOT science.
I started down the road to Physical Therapy by becoming certified as a Personal Trainer as well CPR/AED/First Aid ready.
I am taking this class because I love classes that are geared towards creativity and graphic design as it was profession for a little while. But also because I needed to get into the El Camino system so that I would be at the very, very bottom of the class picking schedule.
